Chermaine fasts with Muslim friends

Chermaine Poo wears a tudung in the series Tudung Express.

Former beauty queen Chermaine Poo wants to fast along with her Muslim friends during Ramadhan.

Though Poo is not a Muslim, she insists on going through the fasting ritual because it helps instill a sense of “modesty and gratitude”.

“It’s my way of showing respect to those who are of a different religion,” Poo told mStar Online in an email.

Poo, who is an accountant, also stars in the Malay series Tudung Express, which revolves around the lives of four Muslim women in Kuala Lumpur.

She plays the character Mei and like her co-stars, she wears a tudung (headscarf) in the series.

But Poo says she has worn a tudung even before production started, when she went on a trip to Abu Dhabi.

Poo adds that fasting allows her to learn more about Muslim women and their beliefs.

This year, I’m honored and privileged to be invited to be a part of it once again! Proud to be back again for the Black Circuit. The whole wonderful event is split into 3 parts in whole.

First, I flew back from Bangkok after an event for the press conference. The upcoming second part to it is the pit crew experience held at Sepang International Circuit. The third of course will be the exclusive by invitation only Black Circuit Party on the 28th!
